Teacherhead RoundUp. Blogs, videos, podcasts, songs. June 26

This post is essentially a newsletter to capture various things I’ve been putting out in recent weeks. I will do this from time to time.

Videos

I’ve made a new set of Kitchen Pedagogy Videos. You can find them on youtube here.

Podcast Episodes.

The MindtheGap season has been amazing – with superb guests covering a wide range of topics. The latest episodes are all here:

A particular favourite is this interview with Tom Needham about his new book Engelmann’s Direct Instruction in Action.

This links to the completion of the current In Action series. I’m pretty chuffed with this; it’s an impressive body of work that has been six years in the making. I have now have decided not to extend the series where each book focuses on the work of one researcher- so this is the lot! You find all the books here: https://www.hachettelearning.com/the-theory-in-action-series

Blogs

Recent blogs to catch up on that I think warrant further reading.

I would also strongly recommend this brilliant post by Grace Barron from Voice 21, a highlight of my recent ClassroomVoices series of guest posts.

You can read more of Grace’ excellent writing on oracy on her substack Speaking Volumes.

Music

Obviously hardly anyone listens to our music but it’s a huge part of what I spend my time doing and I care 1000 times more when someone listens to one of my songs than when I get a hit on a blog post!

Here’s a short EP two songs with Tom AP singing and me on the instruments. Two songs – Emigrees and Marais Starlings. Nice syncopated beats and lush vocals; great lyrics from Tom.

And here’s a recap of our lovely Cosmicon songs, written with my lovely friend Jules who died in March.

Finally, here’s a solo effort I’m rather pleased with. Soleil.
